Growing up in the multicultural city that is Berlin, I developed an interest early on in the world beyond my immediate surroundings. After studying law for two years, I decided to follow my passion and took up history and area studies at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. During my studies there I was interested specifically in the history of European colonialism and modern India. Adequate understanding of these topics required knowledge of Hindi, which I began to learn at that time, and which I continue to study. I hope that participation in the Global History program will give me the opportunity to learn more about the many shared global developments and entanglements in German and Asian societies across the 19th and 20th centuries.
