During her undergraduate years, You Wu immersed herself in the Modern European History, with a particular focus on the lives of German-speaking Jewish intellectuals. She spent an exchange semester in Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, improving her German and studying Zionism, the Holocaust, and the State of Israel. It was also in Munich that she began to rethink her own identity, prompting a shift back to her roots in East Asia, where she was born, raised, and educated.

Currently, You Wu’s academic interests lie in global intellectual history, specifically during the interwar period in East Asia. She is particularly interested in researching the transmission of concepts, the narrative of nation-state building, and the East-West dichotomy.

Beyond academia, she enjoys photography, capturing the breathtaking landscapes of Inner Asia and Tibet, as well as their diverse cultures and religions.
