Marie Van Bömmel

Marie van Bömmel

Marie van Bömmel

Raised in Hamburg, Marie lived in Paris working as an au pair before studying law in Berlin, Bordeaux and Münster. She focused on European and International Law. Back in Berlin, she received her BA in Theater Studies and History from the Freie Universität where she just graduated with a thesis on Hannah Arendt’s theater metaphor. Marie is working at an antiquarian bookshop and volunteers as Lesepatin at a primary school. Her passion for literature was deepened while discovering the independent publishing scene as an intern.

She opted for the Global History Program in order to merge her different backgrounds with the aim to explore human interaction and ideas from a non-Eurocentric perspective. She’s amazed by the opportunity not just to abstractly discuss the earnings of global histories but to actually engage with a variety of perspectives within an international cohort. To broaden her language skills, she’s learning Russian.
