Toby completed his BA in German Studies at Birkbeck College, University of London, in 2012. His view that to understand world history you need to understand European history and to understand European history you need to understand German history still applies, but he believes the reverse is also true, which is why the Global History MA is so relevant to his thinking.  He is looking forward to developing his European interests (nationalism, militarism, revolution and decolonisation) in their global context.
