Thomas Smith graduated from the University of Exeter with a BA in History (2010) and a MA in War and Society (2012). His master’s thesis focussed on public and private institutions of Channel Islands war relief in Britain during the Second World War. After working for two years in Information Technology, Thomas desired to return to an academic setting where he could broaden his historical and geographical frontiers, learn a second language and meet fellow students from around the world. The Global History program in Berlin provided the perfect opportunity to fulfil his ambitions and advance his academic interests in modern political and social imagination.
