My name is Sonja, and since the beginning of the Winter Semester 2024/25, I have been in Berlin to pursue a Master's in Global History. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Heidelberg, where I studied History and Spanish. As part of my Bachelor's program, I spent an academic year in Madrid, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Having long held a special interest in Spanish-speaking countries, I hope to deepen my understanding of Latin American history during my Master's studies, particularly focusing on the various forms of governance in Latin America during the 20th century. However, I am also interested in other topics and regions of the world and aim to broaden my knowledge in these areas as well. The approach of Global History, which - roughly speaking - aims to promote historiography beyond Eurocentrism and nation-states, piqued my curiosity and motivated me to choose this program.
