Shulagna holds a Master’s in ‘Politics’ with a specialization in International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India and a Bachelor’s in History from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India (where she hails from). Her interest in foreign policy, transnational history, human security and violence has led her to take up challenging experiences in the professional field in lieu of conducting research, writing, and working in foreign policy, security/strategic studies (non-traditional aspects); peace and conflict studies; human rights and gender equity; development studies with a special focus on South Asia. Therein she has worked for Delhi Policy Group, New Delhi (foreign policy think tank) and Asia Foundation’s Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal (BBIN) project and BIMSTEC Advancing Regional Cooperation and Integration projects conducted in Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. This gave her a unique opportunity to review, collate and compare the distinct perspectives of all stakeholders on the future directions and priorities of regional integration across sectors. Furthermore, she has also worked for the DPG-JIIA project of India-Japan Track 1.5 dialogue. She also led teams for many other Track 1.5/2 level Conferences and Seminars as the chief project officer at the Forum for Strategic Initiatives, New Delhi and numerous Track 1.5 seminars, roundtables in collaboration with partner organization Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, India Office. In 2017, she was also part of the Indian delegation of Young scholars in the NGO Exchange programme of the BRICS, sponsored by the Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament conducted in Beijing, Shanghai and Xi’an, China.

She now wishes to take her experiences further by pursuing the interdisciplinary Global History programme that helps in understandings the particular experiences, conditions and challenges facing South Asia in the context of their historic continuity and cross border global entanglements. Shulagna is the receiver of the EIZ Scholarship of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, Berlin.
