Philipp Kandler completed his BA in History, Latin American Studies, and Political Science at Freie Universität Berlin in 2013. His bachelor’s thesis dealt with Nicaraguan-German relations between 1933 and 1942. He is studying Global History because he believes that it adds a very important perspective to the study of history. It widens the outlook of the historian and his research by transcending both cultural and national borders. Moreover, it allows the researcher to study regional topics without being restricted merely to that region, placing them instead in a framework of transregional connections.
