I completed my BA in History and Area Studies at Humboldt University Berlin in 2024, with a regional focus on China. As a recipient of the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship, I spent six months at National Chengchi University in Taipei to further improve my Mandarin skills. My research interests have primarily focused on early modern Chinese-European relations and the representation of China and Chinese people in European sources. For my BA thesis, I analyzed perceptions of China in a 17th-century travelogue written by a German soldier who traveled through large parts of East and Southeast Asia as part of the Dutch East India Company. I am now excited to continue and expand my research on East Asia as a student in the MA Global History program!
