Nicholas Fowlks grew up in the San Fransisco-Bay Area, California. He attended San José State University where he graduated with a B.A. in History with Honors. He focused his studies on 19th and 20th Century Western European History with a particular interest in Germany. After participating in a study abroad program to Berlin focusing on Memory Studies of World War II and the Holocaust he knew he wanted to return to Berlin and pursue a Masters Degree. He also worked for several years in the field of outdoor education, designing and delivering public programs on American Victorian Farm History.

By joining the Global History program, Nicholas seeks to gain a deeper understanding of the history of global entanglements and their impact on the globalised world we live in today.
