Melissa Neumann

Originally from Pirmasens, a small town in southwest Germany near the French border, Melissa studied History at Heidelberg University and graduated with a BA (with a minor in Classics).

After spending a semester abroad at Trinity College Dublin, she realized how much she enjoyed studying in English and being part of an international community of history students. Besides, her newly discovered interest in Irish history caused her to reflect on how most of her previous education had been quite focused on German history and how weird it is to try and stuff history into nation-sized boxes.

Therefore, Melissa is very excited about studying Global History in Berlin. She is particularly interested in everything to do with cultures of remembrance, but also eager to broaden her horizons both thematically and geographically.
