Marlene Antretter

Coming from Salzburg, Austria, Marlene Antretter received her BA in History from Heidelberg University in 2017. She also completed a year abroad at Durham University, which gave her the opportunity to specialise her studies on sub-Saharan African history of the 20th century. Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, she took part in a Swahili language course in Iringa, Tanzania and afterwards put her new skills into practice during a four months journey through Eastern Africa. In the Global History program, she seeks to explore new methodological approaches within history as well as to deepen the knowledge in her fields of interest, including decolonisation, pan-African movements and archival studies. Marlene also aims to broaden her language skills by learning Amharic.
