Kian-Riedel

Kian Jonas Riedel is a first year Master student in Global History. Born in Augsburg, Bavaria, the son of a German psychologist and an Iranian educational scientist was set to make a life of bringing different theoretical approaches together. After graduating from a catholic humanistic high school, the protestant sought employment in the Canadian west (coast) and later on embarked on an extensive journey through 30 states and 6 provinces. After an intermediary stay in Munich, working in marketing and the local film studios, he finally settled in Berlin to study North American Studies. His focus on Political Science, Cultural and Media Studies eventually took him on a one year exchange to the University of California, Berkeley, during the scandalous 2016 Presidential election. Curious of the historic moment he was witnessing, his BA thesis eventually tried to bring together the elected president's political framing with theories of neoliberalism. It is the same curiosity for grand changes that now made him switch from a Political Science degree to a degree in Global History.
