After some freshman year soul-searching I began a Bachelor's degree in History at Seattle University and minored in German. As an undergrad I developed an interest in postcolonial studies and neoimperialism. After completing my Bachelor's I received a Fulbright grant to teach English in Göttingen, Germany. My academic interest then turned to the relationship between Europe and the Middle East and North Africa, focusing specifically on the role of language in structuring power dynamics. The Global History program offers the perfect opportunity to pursue these interests further. And Berlin offers the perfect opportunity to eat great Döner everyday.
