My interest in Global History stems from a fundamental belief that a current and widespread Euro-centric view of history is amongst the principal problems facing Mexico (where I was born and raised) and the wider Latin American region. I did my bachelors in Anthropology at the University of Bologna (Italy) where I first developed an interest for the histories and experiences of people outside of the West. For my masters degree at the FU-HU I am interested in exploring the global history of Latin America during the 19th and 20th centuries but also of other regions, such as the Middle East and Africa. I am looking forward to reflecting upon the implications the study of these region’s histories has for the vision of history I grew up with: that of Europe as the prime or only engine of history.
