My name is Jodie and I come from Birmingham in the UK but luckily I've managed to avoid picking up the Brummie accent despite my entire family being from the same 100 square mile radius. After a failed attempt at trying to make it in the fine art industry, I studied my bachelors in History at Goldsmiths University in South London and graduated in the summer of 2022. I then moved and lived at home for a year but quickly decided I could't do it anymore so chose to come to Berlin to carry on studying in the hope of figuring out what I want to do for a career. Nothing's struck me yet but I've volunteered with a local archive in the past and would enjoy returning to that world at some point. During my bacherlor's I was drawn to gender studies, queer histories, and using artwork and visual imagery as historical sources and my dissertation was concerned with colonial patronage of Indian women in Indian paintings under British rule (the title was a bit catchier than that). I'm not sure if this should be included in my biography?... but I enjoy cooking, swimming, and shopping (food shopping, clothes shopping, you name it) and I knew no one when I moved to Berlin so I'm excited to have made some friends and to have explored the city a bit already.
