Elanor-Choo

Eleanor obtained her BA from Mount Holyoke College in the US with a double-major in Asian Studies and English Literature. She mainly focused on identity studies, specifically the invention of national identities and their construction in literature. After working as a management consultant in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, Eleanor developed an interest in international economic history, especially its relationship with national expansion and legitimacy.

Prior to the Global History MA, Eleanor also worked at a publishing house and edited several books on Malaysian history, including The Towns of Malaya: An Illustrated Urban History of the Peninsula up to 1957; and conducted research for The Chronicle of Malaysia. The Global History MA is an opportunity to expand her view of history beyond singular national contexts.
