David Bell

David received his Bachelor’s degree in History from Royal Holloway College in the University of London. He focused his studies there on minority populations, writing papers on various topics including the population exchanges between Greece and Turkey in 1923. His regional focus is the Ottoman Empire and in particular the status of the minority populations within it. He attended the British School at Athens Undergraduate Summer School in 2014 and was inspired to adopt a more open-minded multi-disciplinary approach to his studies. In joining the Global History MA he hopes to take advantage of the huge variety of courses offered at the Free University and Humboldt University. Moving forward he aims to both deepen his knowledge of Ottoman history but also better situate it in world processes.
