I earned my first B.A. from Yangzhou University in China, majoring in Horticulture. Afterwards I moved to Leipzig for B.A. American Studies in 2021, during which time I became more and more interested in queer and transgender history, in particular the history of masculinity and femininity in its multiplicities and complexities. I choose M.A. Global History so as to expand this scope from America to other parts of the world, exploring how identities and roles have evolved in response to cultural, social, and political forces. I hope to uncover the ways different societies have understood gender beyond binary frameworks, and how gender diversity has manifested and been interpreted in different cultural contexts around the world.
