Chung Hin Mak is born and raised in Hong Kong. He received his B.A. in history in 2022 in Hong Kong and during the 2022-23 Winter semester he had an exchange semester in the Universiteit van Amsterdam. His main research interest includes diplomatic, political, colonial history, the historical interactions between different parts of the world, and history as a legacy and continuation of the modern world. Deeply intrigued by East-West historical entanglements, his Bachelor thesis studied the complex, love-and hate relations between Germany and Japan during the first decade of the 20th century. In the Global History MA programme, venturing outside the anglo- and sinosphere, he aims to not only deepen his knowledge on existing interest fields, but also seeks to expand his worldview and develop other areas of interest. Despite his "imposing" professional attitude, in private he identify himself as a meme lord.
