George Loftus

Loftus

Loftus

Originally from the Yorkshire city of Bradford, George graduated with BA in History from SOAS, University of London. During his undergraduate, George focused on Southeast Asian history, ultimately writing his final thesis on the discourses of power under the Khmer Rouge regime. Having worked in London for a year, George joined the Global History MA in order to build on the global historical understanding he developed at SOAS. During the MA, George is seeking to focus on the cultural politics of Third Worldism and the Non-Aligned Movement as well as the wider cultural and social connections of Cold War networks. He is especially interested in the 'everyday' culture of the global Cold War such as architecture, radio, mass-market cinema and sporting events.
