Bilal Muhammad Hafiz

Bilal, currently based in Berlin, is a student of Modern Islamic History.
He completed his one-year master’s degree in comparative history from Central European University Budapest, Hungary. This was his first experience of formal education. Prior to that a significant chunk of his life was spent in traditional Islamic School (Madrassa). There he memorised Quran and studied Islamic Law, theology, Arabic language, and literature. In his masters, Bilal focused and did his thesis on "The impact of Modernization on Islamic Ideals in the Ottoman Empire and North Africa". Currently, his focus is the connections between Sufi resistance movements of North Africa and South Asia.
