Marija Kucikaite, originally from Lithuania, graduated with a BA in History and Jewish Studies from the Freie Universität Berlin. Having grown up in a tiny, newly-independent country busy with self-affirmation, she felt the need to escape and discover the wider world. Travelling and living in different places and contexts brought her closer to the idea of the interconnectedness of the world. She is particularly interested in topics such as migration, minorities and identity construction. In the Global History MA, Marija hopes to gain a better insight and overview of historical processes in order to be able to engage in micro-research without losing perspective.
