After graduating from U.C. Berkeley in 2018 and completing a year-long stint working in Los Angeles, I decided it was time for me to return to the world of academia and so I enrolled in the Global History M.A.

I chose this program as a way to break away from the Europe-centered education I received while pursuing a European History B.A, and move my focus toward Europe’s encounters with Asia in the 19th century. Thematically, I wish to examine the role that finance capitalism, infrastructures, imperialism, trade flows, urbanization and early forms of mass media played in mediating this relationship.

...that and being a huge fan of 90s/early 2000s electronic music, made Berlin a fairly obvious choice.
